“So proud of my husband Jesse. 200 lbs in just over a year! He is ‘skinny’ for the first time in his adult life and weighs less than his HS graduation day! Thank you Dr Metz!”*
– 2015 Patient

“Just got back from my 6-month follow up with my surgeon, Dr. Matthew Metz. My cholesterol is down to 111, my resting heart rate down to 68 (from 98), triglycerides are down to 83, and BMI down from 61 to 40! Loving my tool!”*
– 2015 Patient

“83 lbs down and only 20 lbs to go until I hit my goal…I haven’t felt this great in years! Thank you Dr. Matthew Metz!”*
– 2015 Patient

“It’s like you had a magic wand, and you saved my life. My mom had diabetes and kidney failure, and I was headed in that direction. My metabolism was shot. If you yo-yo diet your whole life, your metabolism is wrecked. This just feels like I’m normal again. I finally have a red flag that says I’m approaching full.”*
– Kim

“I have struggled with my weight for over fifty years. I am so proud of the new me!!! From the first day that I met Dr. Metz, he has been absolutely wonderful! He is caring, compassionate, he listens (yes, I finally found a doctor who listens and cares) and I wish he could be my family doctor.”*
– Penny

“Not only is Dr. Metz a skilled surgeon, but he is compassionate and listens to his patients. From my first appointment, I have had nothing but good things to say about Dr. Metz’s practice. My surgery experience was smooth and I have had great success.”*
– Joe

“Dr. Metz and staff are great people. Even Lowry’s surgery center was amazing. I’m only 3 weeks out but I am feeling better than ever. Thank you so much for everything you do.”*
– Shana

“Dr. Metz, among being a great surgeon, is the most down to earth person. He truly cares about his patients. I would recommend him to my friends and family.”*

“My name is Josh C., and I have a story to tell:

To say that I have always been a big guy would really understate it. Once I got into high school I just kept getting bigger and bigger, I never got the chance to date in school because who wants to be with the fattest kid in the school. That made me depressed a lot of the time. When I graduated in 1989, I weighed well over 300 lbs. I would try to lose weight but I was never successful. I tried diets, walking, going to the gym, but nothing ever helped. I met my wife Kari in 1992 she was and still is the most beautiful, caring woman I had ever met. I just knew I had to do whatever it took to keep her in my life, so I tried to lose weight anyway possible. I tried taking the mercurial pill redux, I went on the Atkins diet, weight watchers, slim fast, but nothing worked for me.

To my surprise Kari stayed with me even though I kept getting bigger. When Kari and I married in 1994, I was wearing a size 52 pants and a 4X shirt. My eating habits were really bad, all of the time. I would go to a drive through or an all-you-can-eat place 3 or 4 times per week. We had 4 children and all I was doing was showing them how to grow up and be unhealthy.

Each year for Christmas I would get bigger pants and shirts, soon I was only wearing sweats and hoodies. My knees were hurting all of the time along with my back. I had to walk with a cane due to all of the pain I was in. I had sleep apnea and I would have to take pills to sleep and pills to get out of bed due to all of the pain from being morbidly obese.

In 2010 I started to research all options to lose weight other than the diets that kept failing me. My doctor turned me to Dr. Matthew Metz, and after visiting with him a few times I decided that having the Gastric Sleeve would be a great option for me. On October 25th, 2011 I had my surgery/second chance at life.

When I went into the operation I weighed 465 lbs. I wore size 64 pants and a size 6XL shirt. Today, which is 1 year and 3 months later, I wear a size 44 pair of pants and a 2X shirt. I now weigh 265 lbs. I no longer have sleep apnea, nor do I walk with a cane. I am able to go to the gym and exercise for around two hours. My warm up on the tread mill is a 15 minute walk at 3.5 mph, then I step it up and jog for 5 minutes at 5.0 mph, then I slow down to 3.5 and set the incline to 15 degrees and walk that for 15 minutes. After that I go to the sit up machine, add 60 lbs to the weight and do 150 sit ups. Then I’m off to the swimming pool for 10 laps, or sometimes I just walk at a brisk pace in the pool. I do this 3 to 4 times per week.

Along with my exercise I eat a lot better, having stayed with the food plan that Dr. Metz gave me.

I want to let everybody know what a wonderful life changing experience the Gastric sleeve has been for me. I don’t know what else to say except THANK YOU DR. METZ. You gave me the tools that I needed to get my life back and I am so happy now. I have my first Grandson on the way and I now know that I will get to hold him and watch him grow up.”
